Colorwork Knit Alphabet Charts
Are you looking for basic knitting charts to add words or phrases to your colorwork? Here are two simple knit chart alphabets that allow for two different sized letters!
The Doodle Series Patterns are a suite of mix-and-match colorwork patterns that are beginner friendly and encourage customization. While many of the patterns include some word options, the charts below help you further customize to create exactly what you want!

The following charts show examples of knit chart alphabet's that use either:
4 stitch width x 8 row height
6 stitch width x 10 row height
The following patterns are great options for adding knit letters:
Holiday Doodle Cowl - try using Merry, Holly, HoHoHo, Noel, Let It Snow, etc.
Autumn Doodle Cowl - try using Boo!, Eek!, Spooky, Ghosts, Halloween, etc.
8 Bit Doodle Cowl - try using Game Over, Player One, Extra Life, etc.

NOTE: When working the stocking pattern above, you'll want to ensure you're knitting the letters upside-down, as this is a top-down knit!
4-Stitch Letter Charts
These letters work well with any stitch count that's a multiple of 4 sts, such as 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 48, etc. This makes them ideal to fit into both the Doodle Series Patterns, which are a multiple of 24 stitches, as well as many other existing colorwork repeats.
Below are the basic letter charts for a 4 stitch width.
NOTE: Letters M, N, and W do take up slightly more stitch width than 4 stitches, so plan out your chart words accordingly.
6-Stitch Letter Charts
These letters work well with any stitch count that's a multiple of 6 sts, such as 6, 12, 18, 24, 48, etc. This makes them ideal to fit into both the Doodle Series Patterns, which are a multiple of 24 stitches, as well as many other existing colorwork repeats.
Below are the basic letter charts for a 6 stitch width.
